Did you ever feel like you couldn’t make it through the work day without a gallon of coffee?  Start head bobbing during an excruciatingly long meeting? Well imagine how hard it’d be to stay awake if you worked at Cuddledown, a company known for our luxuriously cozy bedding?

Unlike the Red Sox, who recently let slip the news that their clubhouse now features a nap room, Cuddledown’s employees don’t have a nap room (yet…?). However, these intrepid nap-seekers are not at a loss for finding a comfy spot – from the kitchen to the office furniture, to the down bales, and even on a bed for a photo shoot!

With studies showing that short naps can energize employees to be more productive, it’s no wonder a team like the Red Sox would embrace the philosophy that naps are no longer just for toddlers! Prominent companies such as Nike, Google, Proctor and Gamble and the Huffington Post (recently featured on the Today Show) all provide special nap rooms for their employees. Ariana Huffington said, “Even a 20-minute nap in the middle of the day can make a huge difference. I grew up thinking that if you work around the clock, you are going to be more effective, and I realize that is not true.’’

As more studies continue to evaluate the benefits of daytime naps, researchers are finding that these so called “power naps” can help boost brain power for problem solving, increase reaction times (especially important for airline pilots or ER docs), improve people’s moods and stress levels, as well as have a positive impact on health issues such as heart disease, high blood pressure and even weight management.

And finally, although Cuddledown has yet to create an official nap room, that doesn’t mean we don’t embrace the idea. We recently sent several heavenly soft pillows and custom-monogrammed, 100% cotton sateen pillowcases to the Red Sox in hopes that they’ll help the team to be well-rested for a World Series victory!
