The weekend weather in Maine is looking beautiful, so we’re looking forward to spending lots of time outside enjoying summer. If you are looking for a great outdoor activity this weekend, we recommend checking out the Great Falls Balloon Festival in Lewiston/Auburn, going on this Friday through Sunday! Now in its 20th year, the Great Falls Balloon Festival draws thousands of visitors each August who travel to watch (and even take a ride on!) some of the many hot air balloons that are launched during the weekend. If you want to catch a balloon launch, they typically take place around 6am and 6pm. “Moon glows,” which are tethered hot air balloons, go up in the evenings. It really is neat to see all of the balloons in flight – make sure to bring a camera if you go!
