Congratulations to the “Green Room Project” of Kennebunk Middle School in Maine, recently named an “Apple Distinguished Program” for the second consecutive year! This prestigious designation is given to just 50 schools around the U.S., recognizing them for their innovative use of technology in the classroom.
Students involved with the “Green Room Project” have been redesigning rooms at the Nonantum resort in Kennebunkport, Maine. As described in the York County Coast Star, thirteen rooms will be redesigned by the end of this year. The eighth grade students involved with the program use technology to create podcasts for the hotel’s website and brochures for the rooms, which can then be viewed by guests of the resort.
In addition, the students visit local businesses to shop for room furnishings, and to see how goods are manufactured. They recently visited Cuddledown to learn about the business and manufacturing process, which art educator Mary McCarthy described as “a real education for us art-wise as well as culturally.”
We’re excited to have met with this talented group, and we wish them continued success!
