As if sea otters weren’t overwhelmingly cute enough, turns out, their practical method of napping in the water is beyond adorable!
True to their name, sea otters make their home … well… in the sea! They even sleep there! They’re able to keep warm in freezing cold water because of their incredibly dense fur – up to a million hairs per square inch, which traps a layer of air against the otter’s skin.
When it’s nap time, the sea otters simply float on the water’s surface, often in duos or groups. They sometimes wrap themselves up in seaweed growing from the ocean’s floor, or, as shown in this video, clasp paws to keep from drifting off! We would agree that snuggling is a great way to nap securely!
