With the Olympics in full swing, we’re in a sports frame of mind here at Cuddledown! This weekend, we’re excited to celebrate our own Maine athletic tradition – the 15th running of the TD Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race!

This Saturday, approximately 6,000 runners will travel to the beautiful coastal town of Cape Elizabeth to compete in the 6.2 mile race. Among the competitors will be race founder and Olympic marathon winner, Joan Benoit Samuelson. Also in attendance will be some of the world’s fastest runners, including Lineth Chepkurai and Wude Ayalew, who set course records in 2010. Although some elite runners will be racing in London this year, the field will still be packed with talent, making the race one to watch.

For more information on the race, and a great article about Joan Benoit Samuelson, check out the Portland Press Herald and the Beach to Beacon website.

Tell us, have you ever run in the Beach to Beacon, or another one of Maine’s scenic road races? We’d love to hear!
