If you’re looking for a great outdoor activity in Maine this weekend, we recommend checking out Open Lighthouse Day! This annual event offers a rare chance to take an inside look at Maine’s lighthouses and view the coastline from inside the lantern room. Last year, over 15,000 people visited 24 open light stations, making this the biggest open lighthouse event in the country.

This  year’s Open Lighthouse Day takes place on Saturday, September 15th from 9am – 3pm. For additional details on specific locations, visitor hours, and other special events taking place at the lighthouses, visit www.lighthouseday.com. or http://www.facebook.com/MaineOpenLighthouseDay. For other events taking place around the state (or if you’re looking for a great place to have lunch after checking out the lighthouses!), our Employee Favorites page highlights some of Maine’s hidden gems.
